Click on the small images to discover how to get this look.

We have all heard that florals are making a come back but if you thought that chintz was once again here to stay, then think again. Today's florals are big, bold and beautiful. Handpainted or stencilled these images are simplified, graphic versions of the real thing and consist of a maximum of one or two colours. Emblazoned on walls, furnishings and fabrics they add instant impact and work best when applied to a single contrasting background colour. Co-ordinating accessories and furnishings may incorporate strong lines and shapes, yet they still allow these fantastic flowers to take centre stage and tell the story.

For added impact why not think about using high sheen paint finishes, so that blooms shimmer softly against matt walls. Look out for high sheen paint products with a high acrylic content and apply in thin coats for the best results. This look, although not for the faint hearted, is both invigorating and surprisingly easy to live with.
